About Me
The written word has the power to build meaningful human encounters and connections; the word enables us to discover the best versions of ourselves; it is transformative. That is why I teach English. My desire to work with community college students is driven by my past. I lived in West Philadelphia for fifteen years during the height of the crack epidemic. Also, I am a Generation 1.5 Filipino-American and have experienced first-hand the struggles of living in a new and foreign culture. I am a fighter, and am inspired by other fighters like my students, who like me, are searching for hope and answers, in a world that marginalizes suffering and authentic relationships. As a college instructor, I have had a full range of college English instruction experience. My hobbies include listening to classical music and reggae, playing Chopin and Beethoven on the piano, and chasing sunsets.
